Linda K Ricketts
Dr. Linda Ricketts is an education and
training professional with a unique approach to designing creative
learning modalities that inform, enlighten and empower audiences to
envision the possibilities and achieve desired results. A retired
corporate manager experienced in both public and private sector, Dr.
Ricketts is a very capable leader, a valued team member, and a motivating
force in any team effort. In workshop and seminar settings she is adept
at facilitating interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skill
development and skill practice in ways that reduce the most difficult
conversations to meaningful and action-oriented dialogue.
Linda Ricketts the humanitarian has served
both the domestic and the global community as a Rotarian since 1997. In
this capacity, Linda has been actively involved in literary projects in
the Oakland Public Schools, refurbishment projects for the elderly of
Oakland, career development for adolescents in the foster-care system,
international projects that provide medical supplies, facilities and clean
drinking water to impoverished and underserved communities in Africa,
Mexico, Central America, and a micro-banking women’s project in Viet Nam.
In keeping with her commitment to achieving peace and understanding
through education, Dr. Ricketts chairs the International World Peace
Fellows program and the Ambassadorial Scholars Program and selection
committee, for Rotary International District 5170. Previously a Fellow
with the U.S. Department of State, Linda studied economic policies and
partnerships between the Africans and the Americans at the National
University in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. As a scholar/researcher she has
lived and studied in Japan, Africa, Mexico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and
France as a Cultural Ambassador for Rotary.
Somewhere between her professional pursuits as
an education and training course development consultant and her
humanitarian service projects, Linda performs and records the music of her
cultural experience stylizing jazz, blues and gospel vocals.
Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr.
Ricketts holds a B.S. and a MPA from Indiana University, and a Doctorate
in International and Multicultural Education from the University of San
Francisco. She is adjunct faculty at USF and works on a project basis for
Stanford University and the University of California Berkeley.
